Lyle Lovett...

I was searcing for things to do this weekend, when I saw that Lyle Lovett was going to be playing in Greensboro. It's a 40 minute drive from here, but it's not like I had a whole lot of other things to do on a Friday night, so I obtained some tickets (Thanks Zev!)

I thought the show was going to be Lyle and his "It's not big it's Large" band. I was wrong. Instead it was an acousting evening with Lyle trading songs, quips and stories with another great singer songwriter John Hiatt. It was a great show, both from
a music standpoint, as well as an entertainment one. Lyle has an incredibly dry sense of humor and it was on display all night. You could also see that he truly loves to watch and listen to Hiatt play his guitar. At one point in the show Lyle stopped John as he was tuning his guitar and asked what he was doing. Hiatt explanned that he was dropping his "e to G" I think which would open up the tuning, remove a third of the cord and give a nice dual tone sound" musically it was over my head, but it was interesting to watch someone as accomplished as Lovett learn something about his own instrument.

I took one of the ladies from the orentation group I was in, and we had a great time.
